For this assignment, I used Illustrator to design a jellyfish-like creature, carefully crafting its organic shape with flowing, curving lines to capture the delicate and ethereal nature of a jellyfish. The design focused on intricate details to mimic the natural movement and translucency of a jellyfish, emphasizing its graceful, fluid form. Once the design was completed, I exported it for 3D printing. I chose pink acrylic for the material, as it not only contrasted beautifully with the jellyfish’s soft, fluid curves but also added a vibrant, almost otherworldly glow to the final product. The printing process itself was fairly quick, taking only about 4 minutes to print everything. The pink acrylic added a unique touch, making the creature appear almost like a hybrid of nature and art. Once the piece was printed, I was able to see how the design translated from a digital concept to a physical object, with the smooth, glossy finish of the acrylic adding depth and dimension. This assignment allowed me to experiment with digital design and physical fabrication, blending creativity with technology in an exciting way.
